Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of God,

When he had gone a little farther from there, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the boat mending their nets.

And immediately he called them; and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants, and followed him.

But Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be quiet, and come out of him!"

And Jesus, moved with compassion, put out his hand and touched him, and said to him, "I am willing; be clean."

and he said to him, "See that you say nothing to anyone; but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing what Moses commanded, as a testimony to them."

But he went out and began to talk freely about it, and to spread the news, so that Jesus could no longer openly enter a town, but was outside in the deserted places; and people came to him from every quarter.

But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins"he said to the paralytic,

And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

Now John's disciples and the Pharisees were fasting. And people came and said to him, "Why do John's disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not fast?"

But the days will come, when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast in that day.

And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; if he does, the wine will burst the skins, and the wine is lost and the wineskins are ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins."

But he said to them, "Have you never read what David did when he was in need and hungry, he and those who were with him:

And he told his disciples to have a small boat ready for him because of the crowd, lest they should crush him.

And if Satan has risen up against himself, and is divided, he cannot stand, but is coming to an end.

but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin"

Again he began to teach by the sea. and a very large crowd gathered around him, so that he got into a boat and sat in it on the sea; and the whole crowd was beside the sea on the land.

But when the sun came up it was scorched, and because it had no root it withered away.

But other seed fell on good soil and yielded a crop that sprang up, increased and produced thirtyfold, sixty, and a hundred."

And he said to them, "To you has been given the secret of the kingdom of God, but to those outside everything is in parables;

so that 'seeing they may see but not perceive, and hearing may hear but not understand; lest they should turn again, and be forgiven.'"

and they have no root in themselves, but endure for only a time. Then, when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately they fall away.

And he said to them, "Is a lamp brought to be put under a basket or under a bed? Is it not to be set on a lampstand?

For there is nothing hidden, except to be revealed; nor is anything secret, but that it should come to light.

But when the grain is ripe, at once he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come."

But without a parable he did not speak to them. And when they were alone, he explained everything to his own disciples.

And leaving the crowd, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him.

And a great storm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling.

And when he had come out of the boat, there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,

for he had often been bound with shackles and chains. But the chains he wrenched apart, and the shackles he broke in pieces; and no one had the strength to subdue him.

And as he was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed begged him that he might be with him.

Jesus did not let him, but said, "Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you."

And when Jesus had crossed over again by the boat to the other side, a great crowd gathered around him; and he was by the sea.

and she had suffered much under many physicians, and had spent all that she owned, and was no better but rather grew worse.

But the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before him in fear and trembling and told him the whole truth.

And when he came in, he said to them, "Why make this commotion and weep? The child is not dead, but sleeping."

And they laughed at him. But after he put them all outside, he took the child's father and mother and those who were with him, and went in where the child was.

But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house."

But others said, "It is Elijah." And others said, "It is a prophet, like one of the prophets of old."

But when Herod heard, he said, "This is John, whom I beheaded; he has been raised from the dead!"

But an opportunity came when Herod on his birthday gave a banquet for his high officers and military commanders and the leading men of Galilee.

And the king was exceedingly sorry; but, because of his oaths and his guests, he did not want to refuse her.

So they went away in the boat to a lonely place by themselves.

But many saw them going, and knew them, and they ran there on foot from all the towns, and got there ahead of them.

But he answered them, "You give them something to eat." And they said to him, "Shall we go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread, and give it to them to eat?"

But he said to them, "How many loaves do you have? Go and see." And when they found out they said, "Five, and two fish."

Immediately he made his disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd.

but when they saw him walking on the sea they thought it was a ghost, and cried out;

for they all saw him, and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them and said, "Take courage! It is I; do not be afraid."

Then he climbed into the boat with them, and the wind ceased. And they were completely amazed,

And when they got out of the boat, immediately the people recognized him,

And he said to them, "Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites; as it is written: 'This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.

But you say that if a man says to his father or mother, 'Whatever help you might otherwise have received from me is Corban' (that is, a gift devoted to God),

there is nothing outside a man which by going into him can defile him; but the things which come out of a man are what defile him."

since it does not enter his heart but his stomach, and so passes on?" (Thus he declared all foods clean.)

But a woman whose little daughter was possessed by an unclean spirit heard about him, and she came and fell at his feet.

But she answered him, "Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs under the table eat the children's crumbs."

She went home, and found her child lying on the bed, and the demon gone.

Then they brought to him a man who was deaf and had an impediment in his speech, and they begged him to put his hand on him.

And he took him aside from the multitude, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spat and touched his tongue.

And he commanded them to tell no one; but the more he charged them, the more widely they proclaimed it.

he immediately got into the boat with his disciples, and went to the region of Dalmanutha.

And he left them, and getting into the boat again he departed to the other side.

Now the disciples had forgotten to bring bread, and they had only one loaf with them in the boat.

So he took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village. And when he had spit on his eyes and put his hands on him, he asked him "Do you see anything?"

And he looked up and said, "I see men; but they look like trees, walking."

Then he put his hands on his eyes again and made him look up. And he was restored, and saw everything clearly.

Suddenly, when they looked around, they no longer saw anyone with them but Jesus only.

But I tell you that Elijah has come, and they did to him whatever they wished, as it is written of him."

And wherever it seizes him, it throws him down; he foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth and becomes rigid. I asked your disciples to cast out the spirit, but they could not."

And it has often thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if you can do anything, have pity on us and help us."

But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose.

But they kept silent; for on the way they had discussed with one another who was the greatest.

And he took a little child, and put him in the midst of them. And taking him in his arms, he said to them,

But Jesus said, "Do not forbid him, for no one who does a miracle in my name can soon afterward speak evil of me.

Salt is good, but if the salt loses its flavor, how will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another."

They said, "Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce, and to put her away."

But Jesus said to them, "Because of your hardness of heart he wrote you this commandment.

But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, "Let the little children come to me; and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.
