And the robbers, who were crucified with Him, were reproaching Him with the same thing.

404

And, behold, a man having a withered hand; and they questioned Him, saying, "Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath?" that they might accuse Him.

406

And, stretching forth His hand, He touched him, saying, "I am willing. Be cleansed." And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

408

And, if I by Beelzebub cast out the demons, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore, they shall be your judges.

409

And the disciples, seeing Him walking on the sea, were troubled, saying, "It is a ghost!" And they cried out for fear.

410

And, having gone on thence, He saw other two brothers: James a son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and He called them;

411

And, when he said, "From the aliens," Jesus said to him, "Consequently the sons are free;

412

Yea, Father, because so it was well-pleasing before Thee!

414

And, departing thence, Jesus came near to the sea of Galilee; and, going up into the mountain, He was sitting there.

415

nevertheless I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment than for you.

416

And the blind men came to Him, when He entered into the house; and He saith to them, "Believe ye that I am able to do this?" They say to Him, "Yes, Lord."

417

He says, "Yes." And Jesus anticipated him as he came into the house, saying, "What do you think, Simon? the kings of the earth, from whom do they receive tax or tribute? from their sons, or from the aliens?"

418

And Jesus saith to him, "See that you tell no one: but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift which Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.

420

"A voice in Ramah was heard, weeping and great mourning; Rachel, weeping for her children; and she was not willing to be comforted, because they are not."

422

And the servants of the house-holder, corning near, said to him, 'Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? Whence, then, has it tares?'

423

and before the governors and the kings shall ye be brought for My sake, for a testimony to them and to the gentiles.

424

Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying,

425

His fellow-servant, falling down, therefore, was entreating him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay you!

426

And there followed him great multitudes from Galilee, and Decapolis, and Jerusalem, and Judaea, and beyond Jordan.

427

And, coming to the second, he spake in like manner; and he, answering, said, 'I am not willing;' but later, repenting, he went.

428

Therefore, his fellow-servants, seeing what was done, were exceedingly grieved; and, going, they made known to their lord all that was done.

429

And He saith to him, "Having gone, I will heal him."

431

And, when the blade sprang up, and produced fruit, then appeared the tares also.

432

And, behold, two blind men, sitting by the road, hearing that Jesus was passing by, cried, saying, "Lord, have mercy on us, Thou Son of David!"

433

And, having commanded the multitudes to recline on the grass??aking the five loaves and two fishes??ooking up into the heaven, He blessed; and, having broken, He gave the loaves to the disciples, and the disciples to the multitudes.

434

For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and ye did not believe him; but the tax-collectors and the harlots believed him; but ye, having seen him, did not even repent afterward, that ye might believe him."

435

and they, having immediately left the boat and their father, followed Him.

436

But, hearing that Archelaus was reigning over Juda instead of his father Herod, he feared to go thither; and, having been divinely warned in a dream, he withdrew into the parts of Galilee;

437

And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, so that the boat was being covered by the waves; but He was sleeping.

439

But know this, that, had the householder known at what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken through.

440

And the Pharisees, having been gathered together, Jesus questioned them,

442

And they all ate, and were satisfied; and they took up that which remained over of the broken pieces, twelve baskets full.

443

and, after the removal to Babylon, Jechoniah begat Salathiel; and Salathiel begat Zerubbabel;

444

When, therefore, the lord of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those husband-men?"

445

said, "Withdraw; for the damsel did not die, but is sleeping." And they were laughing at Him.

446

saying, "What think ye concerning the Christ? Whose Son is He?" They say to Him, "David's."

447

But the boat was now in the midst of the sea, distressed by the waves; for the wind was contrary.

449

and saying, "Thou Who destroyest the temple and buildest it in three days, save Thyself: if Thou art the Son of God, come down from the cross."

450

And the report of this went forth into all that land.

452

"But, that ye may know that the Son of Man hath authority on the earth to forgive sins" (then saith He to the paralytic), "Arise, and take up your bed, and go to your house."

453

And he, having risen, took the Child and His mother, and came into the land of Israel.

455

And the demons were entreating Him, saying, "If Thou cast us out, send us away into the herd of swine."

457

And, coming to Him, they awoke Him, saying, "Lord, save; we are perishing!"

458

and, sitting down, they watched Him there.

459

And all the multitudes were amazed, and said, Can this be the Son of David?"

460

For, to every one that has, shall be given, and he shall be made to abound; but from him that has not shall be taken away even what he has;

461

Or how can one enter into the house of the strong man, and seize upon his goods, unless he first bind the strong man? And then he will plunder his house.

462

The good man, out of his good treasure, puts forth good things; and the evil man, out of his evil treasure, puts forth evil things.

463

'I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?' He is not the God of the dead, but of the living."

464

But, if we say, 'From men,' we fear the multitude; for all hold John as a prophet."

465

But, if that evil servant shall say in his heart, 'My lord is delaying,'

466

"Arising, take the Child and His mother, and go into the land of Israel; for those who sought the life of the Child are dead."

467

And He said to them "What man of you who shall have one sheep; and, if this should fall into a pit on the sabbath, will not lay hold of it, and raise it up?

469

And immediately Jesus, stretching forth His hand, took hold of him, and saith to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?"

470

But I say to you, a greater than the temple is here.

471

How much better, therefore, is a man than a sheep! Therefore, it is lawful to do well on the sabbath."

472

But she said, "Yes, Lord; for even the little dogs eat of the crumbs falling from the master's table."

473

But, after I am raised up, I will go before you into Galilee."

474

And, when the season of the fruits drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen to receive his fruits.

475

"Others He saved, Himself He cannot save! King of Israel is He! let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe on Him!

476

Nevertheless, I say to you, that it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for you!"

477

And, taking him, they cast him forth out of the vineyard, and killed him.

478

But the husbandmen, seeing the son, said among themselves, 'This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and have his inheritance!'

479

And immediately coming to Jesus, he said, "Hail, Rabbi!" and kissed Him.

481

And, answering Jesus, they said, "We do not know." He also said to them, "Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things."

483

and Solomon begat Rehoboam; and Rehoboam begat Abijah; and Abijah begat Asa;

484

The servant, falling down, therefore, was bowing to him, saying, 'Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay you all.'

485

And His disciples say to Him, "Whence should we, in a wilderness, have so many loaves as to satisfy so great a multitude?"

487

And his disciples, coming, took up the corpse, and buried it; and, coming, they told Jesus;

488

But afterward he sent to them his son, saying, 'They will reverence my son.'

489

and, seeing it, the multitudes feared, and glorified God, Who gave such authority to men.

492

But Peter, answering, said to Him, "If all should be made to stumble because of Thee, I will never be made to stumble."

493

But He said to them, "Did ye not read what David did, when he was hungry, and those with him?

494

And, having commanded the multitude to recline on the ground,

495

for the Son of Man is Lord of the sabbath."

496

Should you not also have had mercy on your fellow-servant, as I had mercy on you?'

498

And, having passed on thence, He came into their synagogue.

500

And, when did we see Thee sick, or in prison, and came to Thee?'

501

And, if ye had known what this means, 'I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,' ye would not have condemned the guiltless;

503

But the Pharisees, seeing it, said to Him, "Behold, Thy disciples are doing that which it is not lawful to do on a sabbath."

505

but whosoever wishes to become great among you shall be your minister; and whosoever wishes to be first among you shall be your servant;

506

And, when He came into the temple, the high-priests and the elders of the people came to Him while He was teaching, saying, "By what authority art Thou doing these things? And who gave Thee this authority?"

507

So then ye testify to yourselves that ye are sons of those who killed the prophets;

508

how he entered into the house of God, and ate the showbread, which it was not lawful for him to eat, nor for those with him, but only for the priests?

509

All these things Jesus spake to the multitudes in parables; and, without a parable, He was wont to speak nothing to them;

510

Then came to Him the mother of the sons of Zebedee with her sons, worshiping and asking something of Him.

511

And John, having heard, in the prison, of the works of the Christ, sending by his disciples,

512

On that day there came to Him Sadducees, those saying there is no resurrection, and questioned Him,

513

Then one of the twelve, the one called Judas Iscariot, going to the high priests,

514

Or did ye not read in the law that, on the sabbath, the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are guiltless?

516

And, standing still, Jesus called them, and said, "What do you wish that I should do to you?"

517

Jesus saith to them, "Did ye never read in the Scriptures, 'The stone which the builders rejected, the same was made head of a corner; this was from the Lord, and it is marvellous in our eyes?'

518

And those passing by were reviling Him, wagging their heads,

519

And their eyes were opened. And Jesus strictly charged them, saying, "See that no one know it."

520

This is he of whom it has been written, 'Behold, I send My messenger before Thy face, who shall prepare Thy way before Thee.'

521

"Who, then, is the faithful and wise servant whom his lord set over his household, to give them their food in season?

522

And the disciples, having heard it, were amazed exceedingly, saying, "Who, then, can be saved? "

523

and they will kill Him, and on the third day He will be raised up." And they were grieved exceedingly.

524

that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying, "I will open My mouth in parables; I will utter things hidden from the foundation of the world."

525

While He was yet speaking to the multitudes, behold, His mother and His brothers were standing without, seeking to speak to Him.

526

And He spake to them many things in parables, saying, "Behold, the sower went forth to sow.

527

And, having arisen, he went to his house;

528

And, entering into a boat, He crossed over, and came into His own city.

529

the blind receive sight, and the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised, and the poor have the Gospel proclaimed to them.

532

And he, answering, said, 'I go, sir,' and he went not.

533

Behold, your house is left to you desolate!

534

Jesus saith to him, "You said it: nevertheless I say to you, henceforth ye shall see the Son of Man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming on the clouds of heaven."

536

And the disciples, having come near, said to Him, "Wherefore dost Thou speak to them in parables?"

537

So then, from their fruits ye shall know them.

538

And, if he disregard them, tell it to the assembly; and, if he disregard the assembly also, let him be to you as the gentile and the tax-collector.

539

And, behold, they were bringing to Him a paralytic laid upon a couch. And Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, "Child, be of good courage; your sins are forgiven."

540

And He, answering, said to them, "An evil and adulterous generation is seeking after a sign; and no sign shall be given to it, except the sign of Jonah the prophet.

541

And, when they came to the multitude, there approached Him a man, kneeling to Him, and saying,

542

And, behold, Jesus met them, saying, "Rejoice!" And they, coming to Him, held His feet, and worshiped Him.

543

Then, if any one shall say to you, 'Behold, here is the Christ!' or 'Here,' believe it not;

544

for by your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned."

549

And Jesus, coming into the house of Peter, saw his mother-in-law prostrate, and sick with fever;

550

It is enough for the disciple, that he become as his teacher, and the servant as his lord. If they called the Master of the house Beelzebub, how much more those of his house-hold?

551

"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte; and, when he is made such, ye make him a son of Hell twofold more than yourselves.

552

And all the people, answering, said, "His blood be upon us, and upon our children."

553

And, while He is yet speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a large multitude, with swords and clubs, from the high priests and elders of the people.

555

And He, answering, said to them, "Because to you it has been given to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven, but to them it has not been given.

556

And Jesus, answering, said to them, "Verily I say to you, if ye have faith, and do not doubt, not only the withering of the fig tree shall ye accomplish, but, even if ye say to this mountain, 'Be lifted up, and be cast into the sea,' it shall be done.

557

"Verily I say to you, there has not arisen, among those born of women, a greater than John the Immerser; yet he that is least in the Kingdom of Heaven is greater than he.

558

and the tombs were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised;

560

"But, when the unclean spirit goes out from the man, it passes through waterless places, seeking rest, and finds it not.

561

And, coming out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they impressed to bear the cross.

562

And, as these were going, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John, "What went ye out into the wilderness to behold? a reed shaken by the wind?

563

Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the tax-collector; James the son of Alpaeus, and Thaddeus;

564

And, taking a cup, and offering thanks, He gave to the disciples, saying, "Drink of it, all ye;

566

And, when morning came, all the high priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus, so as to put Him to death;

567

and, coming, he dwelt in a city called Nazareth; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophets, "A Nazarene shall He be called."

569

and Zerubbabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor;

570

Another parable He spake to them: "The Kingdom of Heaven is like leaven, which a woman, taking, hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened."

572

And Jesus, hearing it, said, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are ill.

573

But all their works they do with the view to be seen by men; for they make broad their phylacteries and enlarge their fringes;

574

Then He began to upbraid the cities in which were done most of His mighty works, because they did not repent.

577

for whosoever wishes to save his soul shall lose it, and whosoever shall lose his soul for My sake shall find it;

578

and He, answering, said to them, "When it is evening, ye say, 'It will be fair, for the heaven is red;'

579

And again I say to you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of God."

583

The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of the Kingdom all the stumbling-blocks, and those who do iniquity;

585

Procure neither gold, nor silver, nor brass, for your girdles;

587

Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree worthless and its fruit worthless; for from the fruit the tree is known.

588

Verily I say to you, there are some of those standing here, who will not taste of death, till they see the Son of Man coming in His Kingdom."

591

and Jacob begat Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, Who is called Christ.

592

Then Jesus saith to them, "All ye will be made to stumble because of Me this night; for it has been written, 'I will smite the Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered abroad.'

593

And, as Jesus was passing on thence, two blind men followed Him, crying out, and saying, "Have mercy on us, O Son of David!"

594

"Therefore, I say to you, the Kingdom of God shall be taken away from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruit thereof.

595

for this is he that was spoken of by Isaiah, the prophet, saying, 'A voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make His paths straight.'"

596

said to Him, "Art Thou the Coming One, or are we to look for another?"

598

For I say to you, ye shall in no wise see Me henceforth, till ye shall say, 'Blessed is He That cometh in the name of the Lord!'"

599

And it came to pass, when Jesus finished these parables, He departed thence.

601

And, being angry, his lord delivered him to the tormentors, until he should pay all the debt.

603

Whose fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly cleanse His threshing-floor, and will gather His wheat into the granary, but the chaff He will burn with unquenchable fire."

605

But Jesus, answering, said to him, "Suffer it now; for thus it becomes us to fulfill all righteousness." Then He suffers Him.

610

"Ye know that, after two days, the passover takes place, and the Son of Man is delivered up to be crucified."

612

Therefore, the Kingdom of Heaven was likened to a king who wished to make a reckoning with his servants.

613

but go ye rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

614

And whosoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but whosoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven, neither in this age nor in that which is to come.

619

Then the soldiers of the governor, taking Jesus into the Praetorium, gathered to Him the whole band.

621

And, taking with Him Peter, and the two sons of Zebedee, He began to be grieved and to be in distress.

622

"And, when they persecute you in this city, flee into the next; for verily I say to you, ye will in no wise finish the cities of Israel, till the Son of Man come!

623

Then was fulfilled that spoken through Jeremiah the prophet, saying, "And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of Him Who was priced, Whom some of the sons of Israel priced,

625

And happy is he, whosoever shall find no occasion of stumbling in Me."

626

And, knowing their thoughts, He said to them, "Every kingdom, divided against itself, is brought to naught; and every city or house, divided against itself, shall not stand.

628

And, behold, there occurred a great commotion; for an angel of the Lord, descending out of Heaven, and coming near, rolled away the stone, and was sitting upon it.

629

And, in his sowing, some seeds fell by the wayside, and the birds, coming, devoured them.

631

Now, when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,

632

Or what man is there of you who, if his son shall ask him for bread, will give him a stone?

633

An evil and adulterous generation is seeking after a sign; and no sign will be given to it, except the sign of Jonah the prophet." And, leaving them, He departed.

634

And Jesus, answering, said to them, "Having gone, report to John what ye are hearing and seeing:

637

And they send to Him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, "Teacher, we know that Thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, and carest not for any one; for Thou dost not look into the face of men:

639

And, having called the multitude near, He said to them, "Hear, and understand:

642

And, seeing one fig tree by the way, He came to it, and found nothing thereon except leaves only. And He saith to it, "No more may fruit come from you forever." And immediately the fig tree withered away!

643

And, when they came into Capernaum, those receiving the half-shekel came to Peter, and said, "Doth not your Teacher pay the half-shekel?"

644

'If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.'

645

And on the morrow which, indeed, is the day after the Preparation, the high priests and the Pharisees were gathered together to Pilate,

646

And, while they were going away to buy, the bridegroom came, and the ready ones went in with him to the marriage feast; and the door was shut.

647

among whom were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.

648

and Salmon begat Boaz of Rahab; and Boaz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse;

649

And Peter was sitting without, in the court; and a certain maid-servant approached him, saying, "And you were with Jesus the Galilaean!"

650

And they bind heavy burdens, and lay them upon the shoulders of men; but they themselves are not willing to move them with their finger.

654

And Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor questioned Him, saying, "Art Thou the King of the Jews?" And Jesus said to him, "You say it."

655

And, behold, a leper, coming near, was worshiping Him, saying, "Lord, if Thou art willing, Thou art able to cleanse me."

656

And His disciples asked Him, saying, "Why, then, do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?"

657

so that the multitudes wondered, seeing the dumb speaking, maimed whole, and lame walking, and blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel.

658

And whosoever shall give to drink a cup of cold water to one of these little ones in the name of a disciple, verily I say to you, he shall in no wise lose his reward."

659

And many women were there, beholding from afar, who followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering to Him;

660

Blind guides! straining out the gnat, and swallowing the camel!

663

At that time Herod the tetrarch heard the report concerning Jesus, and said to his servants,

664

And, behold, a woman, having a flow of blood twelve years, having come up behind Him, touched the border of His garment;

665

And in the morning, returning into the city, He hungered.

671

"But to what shall I liken this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces, who, calling to the others,

672

"Why do Thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they do not wash their hands, when they eat bread!"

674

And He, answering, said to them, "Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition?

675

All, therefore, whatsoever they bid you, do and observe; but do not according to their works; for they say and do not.

677

"Again he sent forth other servants, saying, 'Say to those who have been invited, Behold, I have prepared my dinner, my oxen and fatlings have been slain, and all things are ready: come to the marriage feast.'

678

"Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a net, cast into the sea, and gathering of every kind;

679

And it came to pass that, when Jesus finished commanding His twelve disciples, He departed thence to teach and preach in their cities.

680

and, opening His mouth, He taught them, saying,

681

And the angel, answering, said to the women, "Fear not; for I know that ye are seeking Jesus Who hath been crucified.

682

He says, 'No; lest, while ye gather up the tares, ye root up the wheat with them.

683

And those who seized Jesus led Him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were gathered together.

684

And others fell on the rocky places, where they had not much earth; and straightway they sprang up, because they had not depth of earth.

687

and in the morning, 'Today, a tempest; for red is the overcast heaven.' The face of the heaven, indeed, ye know how to discern, but the signs of the times ye can not discern.

689

said, "What are ye willing to give me, and I will deliver Him up to you?" And they paid him thirty pieces of silver.

691

"Woe to the world because of stumbling-blocks! for there is a necessity that the stumbling-blocks come; but woe to the man through whom the stumbling-block comes!

692

And Jesus, having called His disciples near, said, "I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with Me now three days, and have nothing to eat; and I am not willing to send them away fasting, lest haply they faint in the way."

693

He says to Him, "Which?" And Jesus said, "You shall not kill; you shall not commit adultery; you shall not steal; you shall not bear false witness;

695

And the multitudes, who were going before Him, and those who were following, were crying, saying, "Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He Who cometh in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!"

696

"Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls;

697

And, as they were going forth, behold, they have brought to Him a dumb man, a demoniac;

698

For, as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day on which Noe entered into the ark,

701

And Pilate, seeing that it availed nothing, but rather a tumult was being made, taking water, washed his hands before the multitude, saying, "I am innocent of the blood of this Man. Ye shall see to it."

702

But the things that proceed out of the mouth come forth out of the heart; and these defile the man.

703

For after all these things the nations are seeking; for your Heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

704

And John himself had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his food was locusts and wild honey.

705

and, binding Him, they led Him away, and delivered Him up to Pilate, the governor.

706

Now the names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;

707

And, as they were going forth from Jericho, a great multitude followed Him.

708

And He, answering, said, "Elijah, indeed, comes, and will restore all things;

709

and said to Him, "Dost Thou hear what these are saying?" And Jesus saith to them, "Yes; did ye never read, 'Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings Thou didst perfect praise!'"

711

And, when about to go up to Jerusalem, Jesus took with Him the twelve disciples privately, and on the way He said to them,

713

And, having sung praises, they went out into the mount of Olives.

717

And it came to pass when Jesus finished all these words, He said to His disciples,

718

Verily I say to you, all these things shall come upon this generation.

719

For whosoever has, to him shall be given, and he shall be made to abound; but whosoever has not, even what he has shall be taken away from him.

721

and says to Him, "If Thou art a Son of God, cast Thyself down; for it has been written, 'He shall give His angels charge concerning Thee; and on their hands they shall bear Thee up; lest at any time Thou shouldest dash Thy foot against a stone.'"

723

And Jesus, seeing a multitude about Him, gave orders to depart to the other side.

724

But the very hairs of your head have all been numbered.

725

and one of them, a lawyer, asked a question, tempting Him:

726

Simon the Cananaean, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed Him.

727

And, behold, a Canaanitish woman, having come forth out of those borders, cried out, saying, "Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a demon!"

728

He has trusted in God; let Him deliver Him now, if He desireth Him; because He said, 'I am God's Son.'"

730

And He saith to them, "It has been written, 'My house, shall be called a house of prayer; but ye are making it a den of robbers!'"

731

He saith to them, "Moses, in view of the hardness of your heart, permitted you to put away your wives; but from the beginning it has not been so.

732

"Woe to you, blind guides, who say, 'Whosoever swears by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever swears by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor!'

733

For Herod, having laid hold of John, bound him, and put him in prison, because of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife.

736

But, He, answering, said to them, "See ye not all these things? verily I say to you, there shall in no wise be left here a stone upon a stone, that shall not be thrown down."

737

that upon you may come all the righteous blood poured out upon the earth, from the blood of Abel, the righteous, unto the blood of Zachariah, son of Barachiah, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.

738

And to them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, which says, 'With hearing ye will hear, and will not understand; and, seeing, ye will see, and will not perceive;

739

And it came to pass that, when Jesus ended these words, the multitudes were astonished at His teaching;

741

Now, the bridegroom tarrying, they all became drowsy, and were sleeping;

742

But why did ye go out? to see a prophet? Yea, I say to you, and much more than a prophet.

743

And, while he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him, saying, "Have nothing to do with that Righteous One; for I suffered many things today in a dream because of Him."

744

"A queen of the south will rise up in the judgment with this generation, and will condemn it; because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.

745

Hypocrite! Cast out first the beam out of your own eye; and then you will see clearly to cast out the mote out of your brother's eye.

746

All the generations, therefore, from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David to the removal to Babylon, fourteen; and from the removal to Babylon to the Christ, fourteen generations.

748

And, departing quickly from the sepulchre, with fear and great joy, they ran to announce it to His disciples.

749

but at midnight a cry has been made, 'Behold, the bridegroom! Come ye forth to meet him!'

750

And I say to you, I will not drink henceforth of this product of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in the Kingdom of My Father."

751

"What think ye? If a hundred sheep belong to a certain man, and one of them goes astray, will he not leave the ninety and nine on the mountains, and, going, seek the straying one?

752

"And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah, are by no means least among the governors of Judah; for out of you shall come forth a Governor, who shall be shepherd of My people Israel."

754

And, while He was being accused by the high priests and elders, He answered nothing.

755

Fear them not, therefore; for nothing has been covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.

756

saying to them, "Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye will find an ass tied, and a colt with her; having loosed them, lead them to Me.

757

On this account, I speak to them in parables; because, seeing, they see not; and, hearing, they hear not, nor understand.

758

then let those in Judaea flee into the mountains;

759

And, having stripped Him, they put on Him a scarlet robe;

762

And, coming into His own country, He taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished, and said, "Whence hath this Man this wisdom, and the mighty works?

763

And there came to Him great multitudes, having with them the lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others; and they cast them at His feet, and He healed them;

766

for the heart of this people was made gross, and with their ears they heard heavily, and their eyes they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and turn, and I should heal them.'

767

And, having called a little child to Him, He placed it in the midst of them,

768

But Jesus said to him, "Comrade, do that for which you are present!" Then, coming near, they laid hands on Jesus, and took Him.

771

and they knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

772

And, in the fourth watch of the night, He came to them, walking on the sea.

773

And the multitudes said, "This is the Prophet, Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee."

775

And, the sun having risen, they were scorched; and, because they had no root, they withered away.

776

And already the axe is lying at the root of the trees; every tree, therefore, not bearing good fruit, is cut down, and cast into the fire.

777

and Jesse begat David, the king; and David begat Solomon, of the wife of Uriah;

778

Then He cometh to the disciples, and saith to them, "Sleep on the remaining time, and take your rest. Behold the hour has drawn near, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

779

"And, if your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off, and cast it from you; it is good for you to enter into life maimed or lame, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into the eternal fire.

780

And the disciples, coming to the other aide, forgot to take bread.

782

and He said to them, "Therefore, every scribe, having been made a disciple to the Kingdom of heaven, is like a householder, who brings forth out of his treasure things new and old."

783

Then, leaving the multitudes, He went into the house; and His disciples came to Him, saying, "Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field."

785

And, behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah talking with Him.

786

But Jesus was silent. And the high priest said to Him, "I adjure Thee by the living God, that Thou tell us whether Thou art the Christ, the Son of God"

787

But He said to them, "Not all can receive this saying, but those to whom it has been given;

790

Then Jesus saith to them, "Fear not, go your way, announce to My brethren that they go away into Galilee, and there shall they see Me."

791

Then the high priests and the elders of the people were gathered together into the court of the high priest who was called Caiaphas;

792

And, evening coming on, He was reclining at table with the twelve;

794

"And, if your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out, and cast it from you; it is good for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into the Hell of fire.

795

But He, answering, said, "Every plant which My Heavenly Father did not plant shall be rooted up.

796

And, as they were going, behold, some of the guard going into the city, reported to the high priests all that had happened.

797

And at the feast the governor was accustomed to release to the multitude one prisoner, whom they desired;

798

The Son of Man, indeed, goeth, as it has been written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It were good for him, if that man had never been born!"

801

They say to Him, "Why, then, did Moses command to give her a bill of divorcement, and to put her away?"

802

And they said, "Some say John the Immerser; and others, Elijah; and others Jeremiah, or one of the prophets."

803

As, therefore, the tares are gathered up, and are burned with fire, so shall it be in the end of the age.

804

And Jesus, hearing it, wondered, and said to those following Him, "Verily I say to you, with no one in Israel did I find such faith.

805

And there were gathered to Him great multitudes; so that He, having entered into a boat, sat down, and all the multitudes were standing on the beach.

808

Hear ye, therefore, the parable of the sower.

810

But what went ye out to see? a man in soft raiment; Behold, those wearing soft raiment are in kings' houses.

811

And Joseph her husband, being a righteous man, and not wishing to make an example of her, purposed privately to divorce her.

812

And the centurion, and those with him watching Jesus, seeing the earthquake, and the things that were taking places were exceedingly frightened, saying, Truly, This was a Son of God!"

813

Arise, let us be going. Behold, he who is betraying Me is at hand."

814

but I say to you that Elijah already came, and they recognized him not, but did with him whatsoever they wished: so also the Son of Man is about to suffer by them."

815

Not that which enters into the mouth defiles the man; but that which proceeds out of the mouth??his defiles the man."

816

Again, a second time, going away, He prayed, saying, "My Father, if it is not possible that this cup should pass away except I drink it, Thy will be done,"

817

And Jesus, coming forth, saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion over them, and healed their sick.

820

And Jesus, turning and seeing her, said, "Be of good courage, daughter, your faith has made you well." And the woman was made well from that hour.

824

tell us, therefore, what thinkest Thou: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar or not?"

826

So will it be at the end of the age. The angels will go forth, and will separate the wicked from the midst of the righteous,

830

and to him who is desirous that you should be sued at the law, and to take your coat, grant your cloak also;

831

Then He touched their eyes, saying, "According to your faith be it done to you."

832

"And you, Capernaum, shall you be exalted to Heaven? You shall go down to Hades; because, if the mighty works which were done in you, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.

833

But she, coming, was worshiping Him, saying, "Lord, help me!"

834

And Pilate said to them, "Ye have a guard; go your way, secure it, as ye know how."

835

And, passing over, they came upon the land to Gennesaret.

837

"The men of Nineveh will rise up in the judgment with this generation, and will condemn it; because they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and, behold, a greater than Jonah is here.

838

and to one, indeed, he gave five talents; and to another, two; and to another, one??o each according to his own ability; and he went abroad.

839

and whosoever shall impress you to go one mile, go with him two.

842

And the high priests and the whole Sanhedrin were seeking false witness against Jesus, that they might put Him to death;

844

and, behold, they cried out, saying, "What is there to us and to Thee, O Son of God? Didst Thou come here to torment us before the time?"

845

Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are with him in the way; lest perhaps the adversary deliver you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and you be cast into prison.

846

And he who falls on this stone shall be broken in pieces; but on whomsoever it falls, it will scatter him as dust."

848

Pilate says to them, "What, then, shall I do to Jesus Who is called Christ?" They all say, "Let Him be crucified."

849

which, indeed, is less than all the seeds; but, when it is grown, it is greater than the herbs, and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the heaven come and roost in its branches."

850

They say to Him, "Lord, that our eyes may be opened."

851

"Then will He answer them, saying, 'Verily I say to you, inasmuch as ye did it not to one of these least, ye did it not to Me!'

852

and, having agreed with the laborers for a denary a day, he sent them into his vineyard.

853

But, on a birthday celebration of Herod, the daughter of Herodias danced in the midst, and pleased Herod.

854

pray ye, therefore, the Lord of the harvest, that He send forth laborers into His harvest.

856

"Lord, have mercy on my son, because he is lunatic, and suffers grievously; for often he falls into the fire, and often into the water.

857

Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with my own? Or is your eye evil, because I am good?'

861

for I hungered, and ye did not give Me to eat; I thirsted, and ye gave Me no drink;

862

He that has ears let him hear."

863

And He said to them, "Go." And, having come out, they went away into the swine; and, behold, the whole herd rushed down the steep into the sea, and died in the waters!

864

And Jesus said to them, "Take heed, and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees."

866

"This is John the Immerser; He arose from the dead; and therefore do the powers work in Him."

867

And others fell on the good ground, and were yielding fruit, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty.

868

Then Peter, answering, said to Him, "Behold, we left all, and followed Thee; what, then, shall we have?"

869

And the high-priests and scribes, seeing the wonderful things which He did, and the boys who were crying in the temple, and saying, "Hosanna to the Son of David!" were much displeased,

870

and they were beseeching Him, that they might only touch the border of His garment; and as many as touched it were made thoroughly well.

871

Suffer both to grow together until the harvest. And, in the season of harvest, I will say to the reapers, Gather up first the tares, and bind them into bundles, with the view of burning them; but gather the wheat into my barn.'"

874

saying, "I sinned, having betrayed innocent blood." But they said, "What is that to us? You may see to that."

875

And, behold, one of those with Jesus stretching forth his hand, grasped his sword; and, smiting the servant of the high priest, he struck off his ear.

878

He saith to them, "How then does David in the Spirit call Him Lord, saying,

879

And Peter, answering, said to Jesus," Lord, it is good that we are here. If Thou wilt, I will make here three tents??ne for Thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah."

880

neither swear by your head, because you can not make one hair white or black.

881

And they were finding in Him occasion to stumble. And Jesus said to them "a prophet is not without honor, except in his own country, and in his own house."

882

And five of them were foolish, and five wise;

883

And he who received the one talent, coming near said, 'Lord, I knew you, that you are a hard man; reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter;

884

And, as they were coming down out of the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, "Tell the vision to no one, until the Son of Man be raised from among the dead."

885

And, leaving them, He went forth out of the city to Bethany, and lodged there.

886

Verily I say to you, wheresoever this Gospel shall be preached in all the world, that also which this woman did shall be spoken of for a memorial of her."

888

And straightway one of them, running and taking a sponge, and filling it with vinegar, and putting it on a reed, was giving Him to drink.

889

Then they understood that He did not bid them beware of the leaven of the bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

891

But the high priests and the elders persuaded the multitudes, that they should ask for Barabbas, and destroy Jesus.

892

Now this has come to pass, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying,

893

And when did we see Thee a stranger, and took Thee in; or naked, and clothed Thee?

894

there came to Him a woman having an alabaster cruse of very precious ointment, and poured it down upon His head, while reclining at table.

895

and will cut him asunder, and appoint his portion with the hypocrites. There will be the weeping, and the gnashing of teeth!"

896

How is it that ye do not perceive that I spake not to you concerning bread? but beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees?

897

"Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered to the high-priests and scribes; and they will condemn Him to death;

899

But the multitude rebuked them, that they should be silent. But they cried the more, "Lord, have mercy on us, Thou Son of David!"

900

And he who was betraying Him gave them a sign, saying, "Whomsoever I kiss, He it is; seize Him."

901

nor by the earth, because it is His footstool; nor by Jerusalem, because it is the Great King's city;

902

And Peter, answering, said to Him, "Explain to us the parable."

903

And, having gathered together with the elders, and having taken counsel, they gave a large sum of silver to the soldiers,

904

And the high priests, taking the pieces of silver, said, "It is not lawful to cast them into the treasury, since it is the price of blood."

905

and will deliver Him up to the gentiles, to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify; and, on the third day, He will be raised up "

906

Then, His disciples, coming near, say to Him, "Knowest Thou that the Pharisees, having heard the saying, were made to stumble?"

908

for the foolish, taking their lamps, did not take oil with them;

909

Fools, and blind! for which is greater??he gold or the temple that sanctified the gold?

910

And, hearing it, they wondered: and, leaving Him, they went away.

911

And, coming again, He found them sleeping; for their eyes were heavy.

912

And, when He entered into Jerusalem, all the city was startled, saying, "Who is this?"

913

But the rest said, "Let alone! Let us see whether Elijah is coming to save Him!"

914

and laid it in his own new tomb, which he hewed out in the rock; and, having rolled a great stone to the door of the tomb, he went away.

916

saying, Sir, we were reminded that that Deceiver said, while yet living, 'After three days I rise again;'

917

And the blind and lame came to Him in the temple, and He healed them.

918

and he says to him, 'Friend, how did you come in here, not having on a wedding-garment?' And He was speechless.

920

"And the king was enraged; and, sending his armies, he destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.

921

and they love the first place in the feasts, and the front seats in the synagogues,

922

But Jesus, perceiving it, said to them, "Why do ye give trouble to the woman? for she wrought a good work for Me;

923

and, going quickly, say to His disciples, 'He arose from the dead;' and, behold, He is going before you into Galilee; there shall ye see Him; behold, I told you."

924

He that receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.

925

And Judas, who betrayed Him, answering, said, "Is it I, Rabbi?" He says to him, "You said it."

926

and they then had a noted prisoner called Barabbas.

927

And most of the multitude spread their own garments in the way, and others were cutting branches from the trees and spreading them in the way.

928

Nor the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

929

and he who swears by Heaven swears by the throne of God and by Him sitting thereon.

930

And Jesus saith to them, "How many loaves have ye?" And they said, "Seven, and a few little fishes."

931

And He, answering, said, "He who dipped with Me his hand in the dish, the same will betray Me.

932

And she, urged on by her mother, says, "Give me here upon a plate the head of John the Immerser."

933

And some of those standing there, hearing it, said, "This One is calling for Elijah.

934

"And afterward come also the remaining virgins, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open to us!'

935

And the high-priests and Pharisees, having heard His parables, knew that He was speaking concerning them.

936

saying, "Say ye that His disciples, coming by night, stole Him, while we were sleeping.

937

For she, in pouring this ointment upon My body, did it with reference to My burial.

938

"Then will they also answer, saying, 'Lord, when did we see Thee hungering, or thirsting, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister to Thee?'

939

And He said, "Go away into the city to such a one, and say to him, 'The Teacher saith, My time is at hand; with you I observe the passover together with My disciples.'"

940

[And one said to Him, "Behold, Thy mother and Thy brothers are standing without, seeking to speak to Thee."]

942

But He, answering, said to him that told Him, "Who is My mother, and who are My brothers?"

943

And the servants, going out into the highways, gathered together all whom they found, both bad and good; and the bridal-hall was filled with guests.

944

led the ass and the colt, and put upon them their garments; and He sat thereon.

945

But he, answering, said, 'Verily I say to you, I know you not.'

946

let him who is on the house-top not go down to take away the things out of his house;

947

And Jesus, knowing it, said, "Why are ye deliberating among yourselves, O ye of little faith, because ye have no bread?

948

Likewise also the high priests, mocking, with the scribes and elders, were saying,

949

And they were deliberating among themselves, saying, "We took no bread."

950

And, if ye salute your brethren only, what more than others do ye? Do not even the gentiles the same?

951

Do ye not yet perceive, nor remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

952

Wherefore, that field was called "A field of blood" until this day.

954

the lord of that servant will come in a day when he is not expecting him, and in an hour when he knows not,

955

But ye say, 'Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, That by which you might be profited by me is an offering,'

956

He took the seven loaves and the fishes; giving thanks, He broke, and was giving to the disciples; and the disciples to the multitudes.

957

Then the high priest rent his garments, saying, "He blasphemed! What further need have we of witnesses? Behold, ye just now heard the blasphemy!

958

And, going, they made the sepulchre secure, sealing the stone, in connection with the guard.

959

and the rest, having laid hold on his servants, maltreated and slew them.

960

Ye blind! for which is greater??he gift or the altar that sanctifies the gift?

961

And others fell upon the thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them.

962

And, leaving them, going away again, He prayed a third time, saying again the same words.

963

Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatever she should ask.

965

and, having found one pearl of great price, departing, he has sold all that he had, and bought it.

966

Then it goes and takes along with itself seven other spirits more evil than itself, and, entering in, they dwell there; and the last state of that man becomes worse than the first. So shall it be also to this wicked generation."

967

And he sent forth his servants to call those who had been invited to the marriage feast, and they were not willing to come.

968

And, taking the body, Joseph wrapped it in clean linen,

969

And the foolish said to the wise, 'Give us of your oil, because our lamps are going out.'

971

And the disciples, hearing it, fell on their face, and were exceedingly afraid.

974

And lifting up their eyes, they saw no one, except Jesus only.

975

And the king, though grieved, yet, because of the oaths and of those sitting at the table with them, ordered it to be given;

976

And the disciples, seeing it, were much displeased, saying, "To what purpose is this waste?

977

And they, taking the silver, did as they were instructed. And this account was spread abroad among the Jews, until this day.

978

"But they, neglecting it, went away; one, indeed, to his own farm, another to his merchandise;

979

And He saith to them, "Whose is this image and inscription?"

980

go, therefore, to the outlets of the highways; and as many as ye find, invite to the marriage feast.'

981

If, then, David calls Him Lord, how is He his Son?"

982

Then says Pilate to Him, "Hearest Thou not how many things they testify against Thee?"

983

Show me the tribute-coin." And they brought Him a denary.

984

"But he, answering, said to one of them, 'Friend, I do you no wrong. Did you not agree with me for a denary?

985

and will cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be the weeping, and the gnashing of teeth.

986

And about the eleventh hour, going forth, he found others standing, and he says to them, 'Why stand ye here all the day idle?'

987

And, behold, all the city came forth to meet Jesus; and, seeing Him, they besought Him, that He would depart from their borders.

990

And the disciples, seeing it, wondered, saying, "How quickly the fig tree withered away!"

991

saying, 'These last wrought but one hour, and you made them equal with us, who bore the burden of the day and the burning heat!'

992

And the disciples did as Jesus directed them, and prepared the passover.

993

When, therefore, they were gathered together, Pilate said to them, "Whom do ye desire that I should release to you? Barabbas or Jesus Who is called Christ?"

994

But they, having gone forth, spread abroad His fame in all that land.

996

"Straightway the one receiving the five talents, going, traded with them, and gained five others.

997

"Did ye understand all these things?" They say to Him, "Yes;"

998

And the high priest, standing up, said to Him, "Answerest Thou nothing? What are these testifying against Thee?"

999

But they said, "Not during the feast, lest an uproar might arise among the people."

1000

And, being exceedingly grieved, they began to say to Him, each one, "Is it I, Lord?"
