About food offered to idols: We know that “we all have knowledge.” Knowledge inflates with pride, but love builds up.

However, not everyone has this knowledge. In fact, some have been so used to idolatry up until now that when they eat food offered to an idol, their conscience, being weak, is defiled.

Am I not free? Am I not an apostle? Have I not seen Jesus our Lord? Are you not my work in the Lord?

Don’t we have the right to eat and drink?

Don’t we have the right to be accompanied by a Christian wife like the other apostles, the Lord’s brothers, and Cephas?

Or do Barnabas and I alone have no right to refrain from working?

If others have this right to receive benefits from you, don’t we even more?

However, we have not made use of this right; instead we endure everything so that we will not hinder the gospel of Christ.

But I have used none of these rights, and I have not written this to make it happen that way for me. For it would be better for me to die than for anyone to deprive me of my boast!

For if I do this willingly, I have a reward, but if unwillingly, I am entrusted with a stewardship.

To the weak I became weak, in order to win the weak. I have become all things to all people, so that I may by every possible means save some.

So if a woman’s head is not covered, her hair should be cut off. But if it is disgraceful for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, she should be covered.

But if anyone wants to argue about this, we have no other custom, nor do the churches of God.

Don’t you have houses to eat and drink in? Or do you look down on the church of God and embarrass those who have nothing? What should I say to you? Should I praise you? I do not praise you for this!

And those parts of the body that we think to be less honorable, we clothe these with greater honor, and our unpresentable parts have a better presentation.

But our presentable parts have no need of clothing. Instead, God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the less honorable,

There are doubtless many different kinds of languages in the world, and all have meaning.
