because they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of LORD.

(for her house inclines to death, and her paths to the dead;

But he knows not that the dead are there, that her guests are in the depths of Sheol.

He who has pity upon a poor man lends to LORD, and he will repay him his good deed.

The man who wanders out of the way of understanding shall rest in the assembly of the dead.

If thou say, Behold, we did not know this, Does not he who weighs the hearts consider it? And he who keeps thy soul, does he not know it? And shall not he render to every man according to his work?
