I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, because he considered me faithful, appointing me to his service.

But if a widow has children or grandchildren, they must first learn to practice their religion in regard to their own family and to make some return to their parents; for this is acceptable in the sight of God.

Now she who is a real widow, and who has been left all alone, has set her hope on God and continues in supplications and prayers night and day.
