For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God hath done: sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, to be a sacrifice for sin, he hath condemned sin in the flesh:

our father Isaac, The children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil (that the purpose of God according to election might stand not of works, but of him that called,) It was said to her, The elder shall serve the younger.

But the righteousness which is by faith speaketh thus: Say not in thy heart, Who shall ascend into heaven, (that is, to bring Christ down:)

Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thy altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life.

Let their eyes be darkened that they may not see, and bow down their back alway.

For I will not dare to speak of any thing which Christ hath not done by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed, Through mighty signs and wonders,

Who for my life, have laid down their own necks; to whom not I alone owe my thanks, but likewise all the churches of the Gentiles.
