The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom. But fools despise wisdom and instruction.

for that shall bring grace unto thy head, and shall be a chain about thy neck.

if they entice thee, and say, "Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, and lurk privily for the innocent without a cause:

For their feet run to evil, and are hasty to shed blood.

Yea, they themselves lay wait one for another's blood, and one of them would slay another.

Therefore shall I also laugh in your destruction, and mock you, when the thing that ye fear cometh upon you:

And that because they hated knowledge, and received not the fear of the LORD,

for the turning away of the unwise shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall be their own destruction.

But who so hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and have enough without any fear of evil."

For if thou criest after wisdom, and callest for knowledge;

If thou seekest after her as after money, and diggest for her as for treasures;

then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

For it is the LORD that giveth wisdom, out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

For her house is inclined unto death, and her paths into hell.

For the just shall dwell in the land, and the innocent shall remain in it.

For they shall prolong the days and years of thy life, and bring thee peace.

Be not wise in thine own conceit, but fear the LORD, and depart from evil:

For whom the LORD loveth, him he chasteneth: and yet delighteth in him even as a father in his own son.

for the getting of it is better than any merchandise of silver, and the profit of it is better than gold.

Thou needest not to be afraid of any sudden fear, neither for the violent rushing of the ungodly, when it cometh.

For the LORD shall be beside thee, and keep thy foot that thou be not taken.

for the LORD abhorreth the froward, but his secret is among the righteous.

As for the scornful, he shall laugh them to scorn, but he shall give grace unto the lowly.

For when I myself was my father's dear son, and tenderly beloved of my mother,

Take fast hold of doctrine, let her not go: keep her, for she is thy life.

For they cannot sleep, except they have first done some mischief: neither take they any rest, except they have first done some harm.

For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of robbery.

For they are life unto all those that find them, and health unto all their bodies.

Keep thine heart with all diligence, for thereupon hangeth life.

Put away from thee a froward mouth, and let the lips of slander be far from thee.

For the lips of a harlot are a dropping honeycomb, and her throat is softer than oil.

Keep thy way far from her, and come not nigh the doors of her house:

For every man's ways are open in the sight of the LORD, and he pondereth all their goings.

Because he would not be reformed, he shall die: and for his great foolishness he shall be destroyed.

My son, if thou be surety for thy neighbour, thou hast fastened thine hand with another man:

For the commandment is a lantern, and the law a light: yea, chastening and nurture is the way of life:

that thou lust not after her beauty in thine heart, and lest thou be taken with her fair looks.

A harlot will make a man to beg his bread, but a married woman will hunt for the precious life.

May a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burnt?

For the jealousy and wrath of the man will not be intreated;

For out of the window of my house I looked through the trellis,

For the goodman is not at home, he is gone far off.

For many a one hath she wounded and cast down, yea many a strong man hath she slain.

Give ear, for I will speak of great matters, and open my lips to tell things that be right.

For my throat shall be talking of the truth, and my lips abhor ungodliness.

For wisdom is more worth than precious stones; yea, all the things that thou canst desire, are not to be compared unto it.

With me is the fear of the LORD, and the eschewing of evil. As for pride, disdain, and evil way, and a mouth that speaketh wicked things, I utterly abhor them.

For when he made the heavens, I was present; when he set up the depths in order;

As for the round compass of his world, I make it joyful: for my delight is to be among the children of men.

"Therefore hearken unto me, O ye children, for blessed are they that keep my ways.

For whoso findeth me, findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.

"O come on your way, eat my bread, and drink my wine, which I have poured out for you.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of holy things is understanding.

For through me thy days shall be prolonged, and the years of thy life shall be many.

The blessing of the LORD, maketh rich men; as for careful travail, it doth nothing thereto.

A fool doth wickedly and maketh but a sport of it; nevertheless it is wisdom for a man to beware of such.

The fear of the LORD maketh a long life; but the years of the ungodly shall be shortened.

The way of the LORD giveth a courage unto the godly; but it is a fear for wicked doers.

He that is surety for a stranger, hurteth himself; but he that meddleth not with suretyship, is sure.

A gracious woman maintaineth honesty; as for the mighty, they maintain riches.

A fair woman without discreet manners, is like a ring of gold in a swine's snout.

He that laboureth for honesty findeth his desire; but whoso seeketh after mischief, it shall happen unto him.

Whoso maketh disquietness in his own house, he shall have wind for his heritage; and the fool shall be servant to the wise.

The talking of the ungodly is how they may lay wait for blood; but the mouth of the righteous will deliver them.

A man shall be commended for his wisdom; but a fool shall be despised.

The LORD abhoreth deceitful lips; but they that labour for truth please him.

In the way of righteousness there is life; as for any other way, it is the path unto death.

which their children's children shall have in possession - for the riches of the sinner is laid up for the just.

The heart of him that hath understanding will neither despair for any sorrow; nor be too presumptuous for any sudden joy.

The fear of the LORD is a stronghold; and his children are under a sure defense.

The fear of the LORD is a well of life; to avoid the snares of death.

Better is a little, with the fear of the LORD, than great treasure; for they are not without sorrow.

The LORD is far from the ungodly; but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.

The fear of the LORD is the right science of wisdom; and lowliness goeth before honour.

The LORD doth all things for his own sake; yea, and when he keepeth the ungodly for the day of wrath.

It is a great abomination when kings are wicked; for a king's seat should be holden up with righteousness.

Whoso hath a wise understanding is called to counsel; but he that can speak fair, getteth more riches.

Understanding is a well of life unto him that hath it; as for the chastening of fools, it is but foolishness.

Fair words are a honeycomb, a refreshing of the mind, and health of the bones.

A troublous soul disquieteth herself; for her own mouth hath brought her thereto.

An ungodly person stirreth up evil; and in his lips he is as a hot burning fire.

Like as silver is tried in the fire and gold in the furnace, even so doth the LORD prove the hearts.

Liberality is a precious stone unto him that hath it; for wheresoever he becometh, he prospereth.

Whoso rewardeth evil for good, the plague shall not depart from his house.

Whoso promiseth by the hand, and is surety for another; he is a fool.

A fool's mouth is his own destruction, and his lips are the snare for his own soul.

But the rich man's goods are his stronghold, yea he taketh them for a high wall round about him.

A wise heart laboureth for knowledge; and a prudent ear seeketh understanding.

As for the poor, he is hated among all his brethren; yea, his own friends forsake him, and he that giveth credence unto words, getteth nothing.

For great wrath bringeth harm; therefore let him go, and so mayest thou teach him more nurture.

The fear of the LORD preserveth the life; yea it giveth plenteousness, without the visitation of any plague.

Punishments are ordained for the scornful, and stripes for fools' backs.

A slothful body will not go to plow, for cold of the winter; therefore shall he go a begging in Summer and have nothing.

As for the hearing of the ear and the sight of the eye, the LORD hath made them both.

Take his garment that is surety for a stranger; and take a pledge of him for the unknown man's sake.

The LORD ordereth every man's goings; for what is he, that understandeth his own way?

It is a snare for a man to blaspheme that which is holy, and then to go about with vows.

The robberies of the ungodly shall be their own destruction; for they would not do the thing that was right.

The righteous man wisely considereth the house of the wicked; and for their wickedness, God overthroweth the ungodly.

The ungodly shall be given for the righteous; and the wicked for the just.
