At that time, Jesus walked through the grain fields on a Sabbath. His disciples became hungry and began picking heads of grain to eat.

How is it that he went into the house of God and ate the Bread of the Presence, which was not lawful for him and his companions to eat but was reserved for the priests?

Or haven't you read in the Law that on every Sabbath the priests in the Temple violate the Sabbath and yet are innocent?

When Jesus became aware of this, he left that place. Many crowds followed him, and he healed all of them,

If I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your own followers drive them out? That is why they will be your judges!

The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will gather from his kingdom everything that causes others to sin and those who practice lawlessness

That is how it will be at the end of the age. The angels will go out, cull out the evil people from among the righteous ones,

Then he told them, "That is why every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom from heaven is like the master of a household who brings both new and old things out of his treasure chest."

When Jesus had finished these parables, he left that place.

He went to his hometown and began teaching the people in their synagogue in such a way that they were amazed and asked, "Where did this man get this wisdom and these miracles?

At that time Herod the tetrarch, hearing about the fame of Jesus,

told his servants, "This is John the Baptist! He has been raised from the dead, and that's why these miracles are being done by him."

so much that he promised with an oath to give her whatever she asked for.

Under pressure because of his promises and his assembled guests, the king ordered that it be done.

When Jesus heard this, he left that place and went by boat to a deserted place by himself. The crowds heard of it and followed him on foot from the neighboring towns.

When evening had come, the disciples went to him and said, "This is a deserted place, and it's already late. Send the crowds away so that they can go into the villages and buy food for themselves."

When the men of that place recognized Jesus, they sent word throughout that region and brought him everyone who was sick.

It is not what goes into the mouth that makes a person unclean. It is what comes out of the mouth that makes a person unclean."

Then the disciples came and asked him, "Do you realize that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this statement?"

He replied, "Every plant that my heavenly Father did not plant will be pulled up by the roots.

Don't you know that everything that goes into the mouth passes into the stomach and then is expelled as waste?

But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and it is those things that make a person unclean.
