Behold, I have made thee small among the nations. Thou are greatly despised.

If thieves came to thee, if robbers by night (how thou are cut off!), would they not steal [only] till they had enough? If grape gatherers came to thee, would they not leave some gleaning grapes?

How are the things of Esau searched out! how are his hidden things sought up!

All the men of your covenant have dismissed you to the border; the men who were at peace with you have deceived you, and have overcome you. They are setting your bread as a snare under you; there is no understanding in them.

neither shalt thou stand waiting anymore at the corners of the streets, to murder such as are fled, or to take them prisoners that remain in the day of their trouble.
