As I exhorted you to continue in Ephesus, when I was journeying into Macedonia, that you might charge certain ones not to teach a different doctrine,

but for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me, as chief, Christ Jesus might show forth all His longsuffering for an example to those about to believe on Him unto eternal life.

But let these also first be proved; then let them serve as deacons, being without reproach.

For those serving well as deacons acquire for themselves a noble standing, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

Rebuke not an elder, but exhort him as a father; the younger men, as brethren:

the elder women, as mothers: younger, as sisters, in all purity.

Let as many as are slaves under a yoke account their own masters worthy of all honor, that the name of God and the teaching be not blasphemed.
